About
Built for hospitality, by people who’ve worked it.
The founder
Tristan Abba
Tristan is an AHPRA-registered psychologist endorsed in both Clinical and Counselling Psychology, and the founder of Mind Harbour Psychology in Perth, Western Australia.
Working with hospitality clients, the same pattern kept turning up: people at the edge of burnout, in an industry with young staff, brutal hours, alcohol and other drugs close at hand, and a culture that treats “push through it” as professionalism. Meanwhile the venues that most needed support were the ones generalist EAP providers ignored or priced out.
Off Shift exists to close that gap: proper clinical support, sized and priced for small and medium hospitality operators, delivered by people who understand the industry from the inside.

The lived-experience model
Every practitioner has worked hospitality. That’s a hiring rule, not a slogan.
Less translating
You don't spend your first session explaining split shifts, service adrenaline, or why 3am is when your brain switches on.
Real cultural read
Our practitioners know how venues actually work - the hierarchies, the banter, the line between hard-and-fast and genuinely unsafe.
No moralising
Drinking after a close, using to get through a run of doubles - these get discussed honestly, not lectured about.
Why this exists
Hospitality shouldn’t cost people their mental health.
The industry runs on people who love the work and are quietly worn down by it. Our aim is simple: make good support close enough, affordable enough, and familiar enough that people use it before things fall over - and give operators a real way to look after their team without pretending to be counsellors themselves.
